MARIANN FROM BROOKLYN CHARITY BEGINS IN MY OWN BROOKLYN BACKYARD
To me charity begins at home, mine being Brooklyn. I met Dayna at my kicking boxing class, and she told me about her son Pietro who is suffering with DMD.
I did not know what DMD was. On July 12, 2012 at age 3 Pietro was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. DMD is a rare neuromuscular disorder that causes progressive muscle loss. DMD is a fatal genetic disorder that leaves children bound to a wheelchair by the age of 12,leading to severe disability and premature death. One in 3,500 boys are affected. At that moment I vowed to Dayna I would help her get the word out and support the family in every way.
